The Right Way to Evangelize
It’s the kindness God that leads to repentance. And the fear of God comes once someone’s introduced to God & encounter His love. I remember when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, it was just the love of God. It was just love, love, love, love, love. That was my encounter with God. God wasn't like, “You’re not fully surrendered. Do you know that you’ll go to hell if you stay this way”? That wasn’t my encounter. My encounter was just love & I fell in love with Jesus. And then as soon as I fell in love with Jesus, I saw His love, the fear of God came, naturally. I was like, “You’re love is so amazing & you’re so majestic & you’re so mighty & you’re so beautiful & big! Who am I? I’m tiny little creation”. Conviction came upon me like, “Who AM I to think I know what’s best for my life?” The fear of God just came upon me after I encountered His love.
We need to present Jesus to people the same way that He is presenting Himself to us, because that’s how people will really be saved. And sometimes it’s slow, you know. The Bible talks about some plant seeds, God waters, some people bring in the harvest. So often people want to do things fast. They’re on a mission. “Let’s see how people I can get saved”. It’s not about a repeat after me prayer, it’s about a change of heart & true surrender & that generally happens over time. Seeds planted, God watering, eventually harvest. A big way of this wrong forcefulness way is rushing God’s timing & it’s like pushing people away instead of being a true seed that could grow in someone. So, really our job is to present God in love, in gentleness, with the fruits of the Holy Spirit, self-control, kindness. The kindness of God leads to repentance. So, when we are on a mission to evangelize, let us be KIND. Let us be the LIGHT. Let us SHINE. Let us ATTRACT people to Jesus, not push people away. Let people want to know more about God. Let People want to come to church with us. So, when you go with that intention, Holy Spirit will lead you perfectly.
